At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, members of the Arlington County Police Department were called to the 3100 block of Washington Boulevard, where there was a reported robbery with patrons and employees inside the building.

The initial investigation determined that a suspect entered the bank, implied he had a weapon and demanded money. Nearly an hour later, at 4 p.m., police said that the suspect remained barricaded inside the bank, though negotiators responded to the scene to help coax the man out.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, police announced that the suspect has been taken into police custody and four adults and a child safely exited the bank.

No injuries were reported. Police have not released any details about the suspect.

Multiple roadways surrounding the bank were closed on Tuesday afternoon, including all lanes on Washington Boulevard at Wilson Boulevard to the intersection of Washington Boulevard and North Hudson Street.

More information is expected to be released by police on Tuesday. Check Daily Voice for updates.
